Business Anniversary Ball benefits Hospice

A local businessman treated guests to a glittering evening of entertainment to celebrate 35 years of trading in Scunthorpe town centre, with a Business Anniversary Dinner Ball, raising thousands for his local hospice.

The event at The Baths Hall was held by Fallen Hero founder Des Comerford, and included live performances from former X Factor contestant Christian Burrows, dancer Junior Frood and 1950s Rock and Roll band Jimmy and The Jets.

Des said: “We’ve all got relatives who have been helped by Lindsey Lodge Hospice. It’s an absolutely amazing place and the community would be lost without it. There was no question it would be the charity we raised money for, as it’s such a vital part of the community - everyone is connected to it in some way.”

He added: “I’d like to thank everyone who bought tickets and supported us. We raised an amazing £3,575!”

Receiving the cheque on behalf of Lindsey Lodge Hospice, Chief Executive Karen Griffiths said: “On behalf of everyone at Lindsey Lodge, I’d like to congratulate Des celebrating 35 years’ of trading, and say a massive thank you to him for his continued support of Lindsey Lodge.

“This is a fantastic sum of money, which will go a long way towards ensuring our patients and their families get the care and support they need this Christmas.”
