A North Lincolnshire hospice is offering adrenaline junkies the trip of a lifetime in its first international charity challenge.

Lindsey Lodge Hospice has launched its Polar Challenge 2020, which will run from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 March, inviting individuals and teams to survive two nights and three days in the extreme conditions of the Arctic Circle learning snow craft techniques and all aspects of Arctic survival and expedition.

Lindsey Lodge Hospice Fundraiser Tom Moody said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer our supporters such an exciting opportunity!

“We’ve teamed up with Exped Adventure, who are leaders in this field to bring an authentic Polar experience, exploring snow-capped summits, frozen lakes, Arctic wildlife by day, along with the possibility of experiencing the spectacular Northern Lights by night – all the while, raising much needed funds to support local patients and families who need our specialist hospice care.”

After flying to Oslo, the Lindsey Lodge experience will start with one of the world’s most scenic train rides, passing through the beautiful Hardangervidda plateau before dropping the charity explorers within the Arctic Circle for their adventure to begin.

Tom added: “Whether it’s team building, ticking off a bucket list, or just completing an exciting personal challenge. Our trekkers can choose to complete the adventure in snow shoes, or cross country skis. They will be responsible for packing and pulling their own pulk, and will learn the skills to survive in an extreme and challenging environment.”

Bookings are now being taken for the trip, which costs £410, to include all food, water, technical equipment, insurance and fully trained Polar expedition leaders from Oslo throughout the journey, until return to Oslo. Flights (costing approximately £130 per person) and can be booked through Lindsey Lodge Hospice. All participants are expected to raise a minimum of £500 in sponsorship for the Hospice.

Places for the Lindsey Lodge Hospice Polar Challenge are limited, and registration with a £50 deposit is now available online here
