A Goxhill couple are celebrating after striking it lucky in a charity lottery.

Penny and Nigel Davies were over the moon when they received a call from Lindsey Lodge Hospice to inform they’d won the £1,000 jackpot prize in its weekly lottery, which they have been supporting for the past two years.

Penny said: “This is the first time we’ve ever won anything like this and we are so excited!

“It’s a brilliant feeling to win, and it came at a perfect time just after Christmas.”

Both Penny and David are volunteer drivers for Humber and Wolds Rural Action’s Voluntary Car Service, which provides a vital transport service for residents of North Lincolnshire who are experiencing transport difficulties. They plan to spend their winnings on weekends away with friends.

Lindsey Lodge Hospice Fundraiser Peter Dennis said: “Congratulations to Penny and Nigel, I’d like thank them for their wonderful support.”

He added: “We work as a team with Your Charity Lottery to run the weekly lottery and with their support we’ve grown from 500 members to now over 4,000, making it possible for our loyal supporters to generate an incredible £180,000 each year!”

Linda added: “It’s not just the winning for us it’s the supporting that really matters.

Penny and David visited the Burringham Road Hospice for the first time to pick up their cheque, and while they were there they took a tour of the 10-bedded facility.

Penny said: “The Hospice has a lovely warm welcoming feeling, and really is a home from home.”

“We’re definitely going to continue to play the Hospice lottery and would advise anyone else to support this amazing cause!”
