A vintage tractor run has raised £2,685 for a local hospice.

A total of 67 tractors both old and new took part in the sixth annual Isle of Axholme Vintage Tractor Run in aid of Lindsey Lodge Hospice in Scunthorpe.

The group set off from Lancaster Villa in Epworth, before taking a 34 mile round trip through the beautiful villages and countryside of the Isle.

Richard Thompson, who organises the event with Stuart Lindley and Leslie Lomas, said: “We had another fantastic turnout this year – despite having to reroute due to the bad weather beforehand, luckily the weather was in our favour on the day!”

He added: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported us along the way, and all of those who helped organise this event. We had 61 fantastic raffle prizes which raised £1,062, so a big thank you to all of the local businesses and people who supported our raffle.”

Lindsey Lodge Hospice is run as an independent charity to provide free of charge specialist palliative care to people with life limiting illnesses across North Lincolnshire.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of the Hospice, Fundraiser Anne Millett said: “This is a huge amount of money, which really will make difference to our patients and their families.”

She added: “This is the sixth time this amazing event has taken place. We really appreciate the incredible support from everyone involved and I would like to say a massive thank you on behalf of everyone at Lindsey Lodge Hospice, we can’t wait for next year!”

The organisers are already busy planning next year’s Tractor Run, which will take place on 21 June 2020. For more information on how to get involved please visit their Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/fordtractor3000/
