Celebrating Trustee Week with Pete Wisher
Continuing with our Trustee Week celebrations we sat down with Trustee of six years Pete Wisher to talk about his time so far with Lindsey Lodge Hospice and Healthcare.



Pete’s connection to Lindsey Lodge is on a personal level, as his mum sadly died in a hospice many years ago. This experience left Pete feeling permanently indebted to the hospice service due to the excellent care both his mum and his family experienced at that time.

Pete has spent his career in the medical field as an Executive Director at NLaG and has achieved many things locally, including setting up the Path Links Pathology Service across Lincolnshire in 2001, leading on the Foundation Trust application in 2007 and latterly the development of the WebV IT system. In 2017 when Pete decided to take a well-earned step back into part-time work he felt that he wanted to use this extra free time by starting to repay his debt of gratitude to the hospice service by joining Lindsey Lodge Hospice.

With a clinical background in pathology and diagnostics, Pete is enjoying learning a different side to care. Realising the value of how Lindsey Lodge not only supports the patient, but also the families in their time of need. Pete went on to say,

“During my time here, and ironically after over 40 years in the NHS, I have once again had my eyes opened to the importance of high-quality care and compassion delivered at the most important time for many service users and their families in such a wonderful facility.

As a trustee I am now passionate about arguing the importance of the many services Lindsey Lodge delivers on every level, and I enjoy being able to provide a voice for Lindsey Lodge in the continuous struggle for funding and recognition.”

In his six years at Lindsey Lodge Pete has taken on a variety of trustee roles including, Deputy Chair of the Finance Committee, support in the early development of the IT service and is presently the Speaking Out Guardian. Pete enjoys giving back to Lindsey Lodge, finding it a very rewarding use of his time and in return is constantly in awe of the fantastic support the hospice receives from the local population and the teamwork of all the hospice staff and volunteers.

“It’s great to have finished my journey in the NHS working with such fantastic people and helping to support such a wonderful service. My Mum would be chuffed!”
