Charity darts competition hits the bull’s eye for Hospice

Big-hearted darts players at a Scunthorpe members’ club have stepped up to the oche for a 12 hour darts marathon, in memory of a much loved friend, which raised over £2,153 to be split between two charities.
The sponsored challenge, along with a whole host of other fundraising activities was held at Butler’s Members’ Club on Ashby Road, in memory of Michael O’Driskall, in aid of local charity Lindsey Lodge Hospice and Blind Veterans UK.

Receiving a cheque for £1,077, Lindsey Lodge Hospice Fundraiser Peter Dennis said: “On behalf of Lindsey Lodge Hospice, I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Butler’s for their amazing support!
“This is a significant amount of money, and will make a massive difference to our Hospice, which cared for Michael and supports so many local patients and families.”

The Burringham Road Hospice is run as an independent charity to provide free of charge, specialist care to North Lincolnshire people with any progressive life-limiting illness, and supports their family and carers during illness and into bereavement.

The remaining funds were donated to Blind Veterans UK, which helps vision-impaired ex-Service men and women of every generation rebuild their lives after sigh loss. Since 1915 the charity has provided rehabilitation, training, practical advice and emotional support to tens of thousands of blind veterans.
