Charity gets £20k boost thanks to support from North Lincolnshire quarry giant

A North Lincolnshire hospice and healthcare provider has been given a £20k boost thanks to a big-hearted Barnetby-based quarry giant.

Lindsey Lodge Hospice and Healthcare are the lucky recipients of the funds after Singleton Birch wavered their fee for a mineral processing trial at their site conducted by Mining Machinery Developments (MMD) for Anglo American Plc.

Singleton Birch Head of operations Wes Sugden-Brook said: “When MMD asked us to test out some new mineral processing technology on our site for their client Anglo American, we were happy to support them.

“The trial proved to be a great success and Anglo American obviously wanted to reimburse us for our support with it.”

He added: “We have very close links to our chosen charity Lindsey Lodge, and we’re also one of their brand partners, so we asked Anglo American to make a donation to the charity in lieu of our fee.

“We were absolutely delighted when the Anglo American grant funding was agreed, as we know what a difference it will make to Lindsey Lodge!”

Wes visited the Hospice with Singleton Birch employees Stuart Howden and Carl Atkinson to present the cheque to Lindsey Lodge Chief Executive Karen Griffiths and members of the fundraising Team.
Karen Griffiths said: “When news came in of this huge donation, we were thrilled!

“Not only is this a significant sum of money, it’s such a kind and generous gesture from Singleton Birch, who have been such fantastic supporters of our work over the years.”

She added: “It’s our 30^th birthday this year, so this is a lovely gift, which will support us in providing our specialist end of life care to local patients and families.

“On behalf of everyone at Lindsey Lodge, I’d like to say a massive thank you to Singleton Birch for their support and to Anglo American for donating such a generous amount of money to us.”
