We've  been given a £3,000 birthday boost after a group of youngsters spent their summer holidays fundraising.

Over 50 little Hospice Heroes answered the call to take part in Lindsey Lodge Hospice and Healthcare’s ‘Kid’s Summer Challenge’, to support our ‘Cheers for 30 Years’ birthday campaign.

Lindsey Lodge Fundraising Manager Kirsty Walker said: “What a fantastic amount of money, we’re totally overwhelmed by the level of support and commitment from our young fundraisers!

“We encouraged them to raise £30 from an activity or event they organised themselves, but the grand total is double the amount we were expecting!”

All of the Hospice Heroes enjoyed a special thank you party at The Pink Pig to celebrate their success and share their fundraising stories with each other.

Kirsty added: “They told us how they’d held bake sales and teddy bear’s picnics, took part in sponsored swims and bike rides, to name just few of their fundraising activities, and we are extremely grateful to all of them for everything they’ve done.”

Lindsey Lodge has been holding a whole host of activities and events to celebrate its 30th birthday, which coincided with the opening of its brand new six-bed Butterfly Wing in July, bringing its overall inpatient capacity to 16 beds, along with piloting its 24/7 Butterfly Line, offering round the clock palliative care advice to patients and families across North Lincolnshire.

Kirsty said: “Our specialist end of life services and support are needed now more than ever, and this new generation of supporters is helping us to ensure we can continue to care for the next 30 years.”
