A Messingham woman took guests for a trip back to the roaring 1920s by holding a glamorous Gatsby-themed ball, raising £1,915 for her local hospice.

The event, which was organised by Helen Marshall, was held at Grange Park Golf Club, and saw 137 revellers dressing to impress in their finest vintage costumes to raise money for Lindsey Lodge Hospice.

Helen said: “This is the second charity ball I’ve held for the Hospice, and people’s generosity never ceases to amaze me – I’m delighted we were able to raise so much money!

“I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who bought tickets and supported us on the night – they all looked fantastic and made such an effort to keep to the Gatsby theme.

“I’m extremely grateful to all the local companies who donated some amazing raffle prizes and to the Grange Park team for their wonderful support – we had a great evening for a very worthy local charity.”

She added: “I’d also like to thank Lloyds Bank for agreeing to donate £500 through their Match Giving initiative, after members of their team helped out at the event – this brings our total to a staggering £2,415!”

Receiving the cheque from Helen Marshall, Lindsey Lodge Fundraiser Sharon Tune said: “We are extremely grateful to Helen for everything she does – these two events have raised over £4,286 for our Hospice.

“We’re a local charity, providing care for local people and it’s great to see members of our community coming together to support us in this way.

“Every penny raised goes towards providing the best possible palliative care and support to North Lincolnshire patients and their families.”
