A Scunthorpe charity-run hospice is celebrating after retaining its five-star hygiene rating.
Lindsey Lodge Hospice and Healthcare on Burringham Road has received the Food Standards Agency Hygiene Rating of 5, following a spot-check inspection from an inspector from North Lincolnshire Council.
Head of Catering at Lindsey Lodge, Andy Poole said: “We’re delighted to have received the top rating again!
“I’d like to say thank you and well done to our wonderful catering team for working so hard every day to maintain this high standard.”
The ratings are a snapshot of the standards of food hygiene found at the time of inspection. It is the responsibility of the business to comply with food hygiene law at all times.
This includes handling of food, how it is stored and prepared, cleanliness of facilities and how food safety is managed.
The hygiene standards found at the time of inspection are then rated on a scale with five at the top of the scale, which means the hygiene standards are very good and fully comply with the law. The lowest rating of zero at the bottom of the scale, this means urgent improvement is necessary.
Andy Poole added: “These inspections are incredibly important to us, as we have an opportunity to learn from the inspectors and adopt best practice.
“We take great pride in the important service we provide to our patients, families and visitors and they give us lovely feedback about what we do – so it’s fantastic to have this validated in our hygiene rating.”
Members of the public can sample the culinary talents of Andy and the rest of the Lindsey Lodge Catering Team by visiting Lindsey’s Meet and Eat, which is open Monday to Saturday, between 8am and 4pm and Sunday, between 12pm and 2pm.
