We've launched a brand new respite day care service to give carers a much needed day off.

Lindsey Lodge Hospice’s Daybreak Service operates from its Wellbeing Centre every Monday, between 10am and 3pm, offering personalised, non-medical care for North Lincolnshire adults who are unable to be left alone for long periods of time.

Staffed by a mixture of clinical staff and volunteer ‘buddies’, service users are invited to stay for the whole day, or places are bookable by the hour.

Lindsey Lodge Hospice Wellbeing Centre Manager Sarah Hodge said: “Even the most dedicated carer deserves a day off sometimes.

“Our Daybreak Service cares for a loved one in a safe, warm and welcoming environment, while a carer takes a little break from their usual routine.”

She added: “This is a new paid for respite service running every Monday.

“We offer a range of mentally stimulating and therapeutic activities, which encourage interaction, exercise, socialising, both in our Wellbeing Centre and our beautiful gardens and accept bookings from anyone aged 18 years and over, with neurological and life limiting conditions including dementia, which mean they are unable to be left alone for long periods of time.”

A full day in Lindsey Lodge’s Daybreak Service, inclusive refreshments and a three-course lunch costs £60 per day. Bookings are also available on an hourly basis at £15 per hour.

Sarah added: “All people need to do is phone, or email us and we will contact them and invite them and their loved one to visit us for an assessment at Lindsey Lodge, or we can visit them at home, when we will then discuss opportunities and availability for our Daybreak Service.

“During their loved one’s time using our Daybreak Service, both service users and carers will both have an opportunity to access a range of other activities and complementary therapies, beauty treatments, which are bookable and payable through the Daybreak Team. We can also arrange for carers to talk to a carer support professional here at Lindsey Lodge.”

The Hospice also offers a respite bed in its Inpatient Unit, for more information on either of these services please follow this link
