We're working in partnership with one of the area’s most successful athletic events management organisations to offer a festive treat to families and runners at Normanby Park.

Lindsey Lodge Hospice has teamed up with Curly’s Athletes to bring its second family-focused  Elf 3K Yourself Run on Sunday 22 December, which will be followed by a 10K head torch trail run in the dark called Rudolph’s Revenge for more serious athletes.

Lindsey Lodge Hospice Head of Fundraising Tom Moody said: “Last year our Elf Yourself Run was a real success, but this year we’re aiming for it to be bigger and better, so when Curly’s offered to join forces on the two events we were delighted!”

He added: “In the lovely setting of Normanby Park, we’ll have tinsel and lights galore to make this a great start to the Festive Season!

“We’re inviting people of all ages to sign up for our Elf Yourself Run. Their mission will be to help Santa get all of his presents back to his sleigh, as well as picking ups some special clues along the way.

“They’ll visit elf stations to pick up t-shirts, hats and rosy cheeks, as well as getting their very own elf name, and by the time they reach the finish line to collect their medal and have their Elfie Selfie taken, they’ll have been transformed into a cute Christmas Elf – while having lots of festive fun along the way, and the elf costume is all theirs to take home!”

Entry to the Elf Yourself Run costs £10 per person plus admin, which includes all day parking at Normanby Park. The route is accessible to pushchairs and wheelchairs. People will complete the course in waves of 50, with the first wave setting off at 1pm. All of the proceeds raised from this event will go to Lindsey Lodge Hospice.

Tom added: “Last year our event sold out, so this year we’re offering 500 places, but we urge people to book early to avoid disappointment.”

Following the Lindsey Lodge event, as darkness falls, Curly’s Athletes is introducing its first ever 10K Rudolph’s Revenge.

Curly’s Athletics Director Jono Frary said: “This is a head-torch lit trail run around the winter wonderland that is Normanby Park by night!

“Heading out from the Hall into the woods, past the deer park for two 5K loops, it will be an amazing spectacle of lights and tinsel.

“Runners can expect a few surprises out on the course and lots of festive fun, so don’t fear the deer!

“Everyone will be welcomed back at the finish for their medal along with a well- earned ‘sweet’ reward and a mulled drink.”

Entry to Rudolph’s Revenge costs between £18.50 to £20 plus admin and athletes taking part will also be given an opportunity to donate or raise funds for Lindsey Lodge through sponsorship. Booking for both events is available online at the Curly’s Athlete’s website here

Jono added: “We’re really excited about our plans, which we hope will get everyone in the mood for Christmas. We’ll have music, stalls, food and can even promise some snow – whatever the weather on the day! So we hope people will come along and sign up for one, or both of the events to make this a very special day raising funds for Lindsey Lodge Hospice!
