Hundreds of local people have helped a North Lincolnshire charity to round off its fundraising year during the festive season by taking part in two very different events at Normanby Hall Country Park raising a fantastic total of £25,000.

Lindsey Lodge Hospice and Healthcare’s busy calendar of events for 2021 drew to a close on a chilly afternoon on Sunday 19 December, when over 700 elf apprentices took part in the Elf Yourself Run 3k family fun run, transforming into elves to help deliver presents to Santa on their way around the Park.

Supported by Curly’s Athletes for a second time, who held their Rudolph’s Revenge 10k night time trail run later in the evening, the Elf Yourself event saw a record number of people taking part in social distanced waves of entrants, to support the 29 year old charity.

Lindsey Lodge Deputy Chief Executive Tom Moody said: “We were delighted to bring this hugely popular event back in 2021 and couldn’t have done it without the amazing continued support of Curly’s Athletes, who made sure we delivered a safe, fun-packed, socially distanced Elf Yourself.

“This was our biggest event yet, and it was lovely to see so many elves running around Normanby Park in support of Lindsey Lodge!”

Just three days earlier, around 200 people gathered to remember their lost loved ones in front of a beautifully-lit Hall to take part in Lindsey Lodge’s Light up a Life Service, which was also streamed live to over 2,000 people.

Tom added: “This was an especially poignant service, as we were only able to hold a virtual event last year.

“A huge thanks to the Mayor of North Lincolnshire Cllr Peter Clark and our chaplaincy and nursing teams for providing the readings, as well as the Police Band and Piper Danny Fleming for providing the beautiful music.”

He added: “On behalf of everyone at Lindsey Lodge, I’d also like to say thank you to Normanby Hall and North Lincolnshire Council for their support in hosting these events.

“They’ve been a fantastic way to end the year and we couldn’t have asked for a better response from our local community, so a heart-felt thank you to everyone for getting involved this Christmas.”
