A Broughton woman has raised over £15,500 in just five years in aid of her local hospice.
Lucy Heath (29) has solely organised and hosted five charity balls every year since 2015, all while working full time, after her dad Andrew Heath encouraged her to fundraise for Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
Lucy said: “My dad received incredible symptom management and support around twelve years ago after he had Ameloblastoma Carcinoma, a rare aggressive type of tumour in his jaw. The hospice helped dress his tracheotomy, managed his pain, showed a lot of compassion when he needed it most and helped him on his road to recovery.
“I started fundraising when I was 24, as I was too young when Dad was poorly. When he suggested that I should do something for charity, I immediately thought of Lindsey Lodge, as the Hospice has helped so many people, including my own family.”
Lucy began her fundraising with a football match, which she continued each year. She then decided to organise her own charity ball.
Each year, Lucy has provided guests with an evening full of entertainment, from hypnotists to magicians, to photo booths and comedians, all the while, raising fantastic amounts for the hospice.
Lucy added: “I’d like to say a big thank you to Red Carpet Ready, Newmedica, DHL, The White Swan Scotter, SSP, Barrett Steel, Floor and Wall and Winteringham Fields for their amazing support. I couldn’t have done each charity ball without the support throughout the evenings from my mum Julie, Auntie Sharon and boyfriend Dom.”
Lindsey Lodge Fundraiser Selina Doyle said: “What Lucy has achieved in just five years is absolutely incredible! On behalf of everyone at Lindsey Lodge Hospice, I’d like to say a huge thank you to her for her ongoing support and raising such a phenomenal amount of money.
“Every penny she’s raised will go towards ensuring our patients and their families receive our specialist care and services when they need it most.”
