A Scunthorpe man has completed an array of intense lockdown challenges, raising £5,500 to be split between two charities.

Phil Kenyon (22) took on extreme challenges in aid of Lindsey Lodge and NHS Charities Together, in memory of his dad Philip Peter Kenyon, who was cared for by Lindsey Lodge.

Phil said: “This year marks 18 years since my dad passed away, so I set myself a goal at the beginning of Covid-19 to raise £10,000 for charities close to my heart. I know how much they need the support, particularly at the moment because of the pandemic.

He added: “Before I reached my £10,000 goal I was called on tour with the Royal Air Force, so reduced my target to £5,000.”

In total, Phil clocked up over 325 completed miles from the range of gruelling challenges, which included running 300km in 30 days and an enhanced triathlon leg burner challenge. Phil was joined by his brother Jamie Kenyon and friends Tom Dyer and Leo Murphy for his 300km challenge.

Phil added: “I’m really pleased to have reached my goal and I’d like to thank everyone for their amazing support, including Jamie, Tom and Leo for taking part alongside me.”

Commenting on Phil’s fundraising, Lindsey Lodge Hospice Fundraising Assistant April Buttrick said: “I’d like to say a big Hospice thank you to Phil, Jamie, Tom and Leo, we are truly grateful for all of their incredible support!

“As a local charity we’re in unprecedented times due to Covid-19, so we’re truly grateful to them all for taking on such massive challenges to raise much-needed funds for us.

“Every penny they raise for Lindsey Lodge will go to supporting North Lincolnshire patients and families.”
