At Lindsey Lodge Hospice we know how important it is to offer bereavement Support and Counselling to Adults and now we wish to extend this service to Children and Young People. We're delighted that our application to Tesco Community Grants Scheme for a Children & Young People's Bereavement Group is being put forward to a customer vote in Tesco stores.
Voting will commence in store from the first week of April 2022 and continue until 30th June 2022, so please give us your vote!
The project with the highest number of votes across our region will receive £1,500 (or the amount that was requested up to this value), the second placed project £1,000 (or the amount that was requested up to this value), and the third placed project £500.
This funding will help us to set up support group work with children and young people who have been bereaved by offering support, activities and making memories in a group setting to help them feel more secure and able to express themselves and feel heard in a safe space.
Children and young people often report to feeling misunderstood, alone, isolated, lost and somehow different from others following the death of a parent or the loss of someone else important in their lives, such as a Grandparent, brother or sister. How a child grieves is vital to their immediate and long term future.
The aim of the Group will help a child to explore and share their feelings with others in similar situations and not suffer in silence.
Therapeutic storytelling and creative play will help children to express grief and trauma which helps to bring about healing and change.
