Six intrepid fundraisers leave for sub-zero Polar challenge

Six fearless fundraisers are heading to the Arctic Circle to take on the chilliest challenge of a lifetime in aid of their local hospice.

Participants in the Lindsey Lodge Hospice Polar Challenge 2020 left Humberside Airport this morning, ready to spend two nights and three days in the extreme conditions of the Arctic Circle, where they will survive on only what they are able to carry, whilst trekking in snow and ice for over 30km across the plateau.

Lindsey Lodge Hospice Fundraising Assistant April Buttrick said: “This is our first overseas challenge and we can’t wait to see how our fundraisers get on!

“Pam, Sam, Andy, Stewart, Ian and Trevor have all worked amazingly hard to fundraise for the Hospice. As well as gaining sponsorship for this extreme challenge, they have all actively organised other events to boost their fundraising.”

“We’ve teamed up with Exped Adventure, who are leaders in this field to bring an authentic Polar experience, exploring snow-capped summits, frozen lakes, Arctic wildlife by day, along with the possibility of experiencing the spectacular Northern Lights by night – all the while, raising much needed funds to support local patients and families who need our specialist hospice care.”

After flying to Oslo, the Lindsey Lodge experience will start with one of the world’s most scenic train rides, passing through the beautiful Hardangervidda plateau before dropping the charity explorers within the Arctic Circle for their adventure to begin.
