Update to visiting arrangements to Lindsey Lodge Hospice

Unfortunately usual visiting is suspended at Lindsey Lodge Hospice

Revised visiting arrangements:

From Tuesday 5th May visiting at the hospice will only be allowed in exceptional circumstances.

Following the Government guidance, to stay at home and protect care environments, the Hospice has suspended all visiting except in the following exceptional circumstances:

·      Visiting patients at the end of their life

It is often very difficult to assess last days of life and this may need to be determined following medical and nursing assessment. Our staff will aim to keep families updated following assessment and as a patient’s condition changes. Discussion will involve the patients next of kin.

If you have other circumstances you believe to be exceptional please contact the Inpatient Unit for advice.

We will encourage patients to make telephone contact for those who are well enough to keep in contact with their families and friends using their own mobile phone to help reduce calls to the unit. We will also support patients with Face time/Zoom again where appropriate.

We will continue to review all non-urgent appointments in line with the Government guidance on Coronavirus. Where we can, and where appropriate, we are trying to minimise face to face appointments, and will be carrying out appointments via telephone or video.

We will aim to review these arrangements regularly, in the light of Government advice or our local circumstances.

All visitors must report to the main reception lobby where you will be guided to the patient’s own room via the external access, if visitors are not from the same household two only will be permitted in the room at any one time.

This is not a decision we have taken lightly, but we need to do the utmost to protect our patients and staff throughout this pandemic. The government guidance is clear; people need to stay at home and only go out for food, health reasons or essential travel to work. We appreciate this will be difficult for people who are worried about their loved ones but it is an essential step we feel we must make.
