A total of 57 tractors both old and new took part in the fifth annual Isle of Axholme Vintage Tractor Run in aid of Lindsey Lodge Hospice in Scunthorpe.

The group set off from the Red Lion in Epworth, before taking a 35 mile round trip through the beautiful villages and countryside of the Isle, which took over four hours to complete.

Richard Thompson, who organises the event with Stuart Lindley and Leslie Lomas, said: “We had another great turnout this year – and thankfully the weather was a little cooler than the scorcher we had last year!

He added: “We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who turned out to support us along the way, and all those who sponsored us and donated raffle prizes, there really are too many to name, but we want you all to know your help is much appreciated!”

Receiving the cheque on behalf of the Hospice, Fundraiser Anne Millett said: “This is a huge amount of money, which really will make difference to our patients and their families.

She added: “There’s a real buzz around this event, and it’s great to see how many local people turn out to give these lovely engines and their drivers their support – so thank you to everyone involved for their continued support.”

Richard, Stuart, Leslie and friends are already busy organising next year’s Tractor Run, which will take place in June. For more information on how to get involved please visit their Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/fordtractor3000/
