It's time to say thanks!
Volunteers' Week is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering, and here at Lindsey Lodge we're recognising the fantastic contribution ur volunteers make and say a huge thank you!
We really couldn't do what we do without the support of our volunteers. From helping out at our car boot sales, marshalling/running our events, fundraising for us, manning our Reception, helping in our gardens, serving refreshments to our patients or in our Meet and Eat Restaurant, helping us in Retail to supporting in our Wellbeing Centre and being part of our chaploaincy team - they are amazing!
Volunteers are the core of any charity, and without them we would struggle to deliver our activities throughout the community. Did you know that 30 hours of volunteered time saves over £300 in staff costs every year? Meaning we can focus those funds on our patients, equipment and development.
There are many rewards for volunteering your time to our organisation on both a personal and professional level. It can help to prevent isolation and loneliness, promoting great mental health and wellbeing by interacting with others. Volunteering builds confidence and promotes happiness when you know that you are helping a good cause.
On a professional level, it can boost your CV where you may have otherwise had a gap in employment and shows a drive to do good. It can provide challenges and situations that create great skills for future employees.
Maybe you're an organisation looking to give something back? We often welcome volunteers representing local or national companies on volunteering days. Just last week, we said a huge thank you to Fat Face Gainsborough, who kindly let Sue Howitt volunteer her four hour shift in our Lindsey's store in Gainsborough. If you're an organisation looking to provide some volunteer support, please contact our Corporate Fundraising Team by phoning 01724 270835, or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Need to get some valuable work experience?
We're delighted to be welcoming two fashion students from John Leggott College into our retail volunteering team over the coming weeks, but have lots of opportunities for young people to get valuable work experience and our Fundraising Team will be booking in talks with local colleges over the next few months.
Volunteering helps you:
- Make a difference in your local community
- Enhance your CV for future employment
- Gain valuable work experience
If you'd like to book a talk from our team, please email our Fundraiser Emma Hartley at email@example.com
Spotlight on our volunteers...
"I offered my services after my son and my family benefited from the care and help given by the hospice staff
I have some skills in working with adults in arts and craft activities, but also enjoy a simple game of cards, doing a quiz or having a chat.
"You don't need any specific skills to be an asset to the hospice, but if you were able to make a cup of tea or help a patient to the restaurant this would be just as important. I have enjoyed helping out at fundraising events such as the annual Glow Walk, art exhibitions and being a car park attendant and I am proud to be part of a caring and supportive team."
"Lindsey Lodge is an organisation which really helps people when they most need it with care, compassion and dedication. I chose to volunteer for them as they are key local charity who make a real difference to the people and communities in the area.
"As a volunteer, you're always made to feel welcome, part of the team and can be involved to the level that fits around yourself. The staff are friendly, supportive and engaging and I always enjoy the events and activities I am involved in.
"I would recommend volunteering for the hospice to anyone who has some time to give."
"The reason that I volunteer is to give back for all of the care myself and my husband received as they supported him on and off for 16 years through several cancers. I was so grateful for the care and dignity given -it was beyond compare.
"I think it’s wonderful to be able to support patients and family. The Hospice is a really uplifting place and I find volunteering really fulfilling – there are so many varied jobs, which means no two shifts are the same!
"I am happy that every time I volunteer I am helping other families receive the same amazing care that we did”
