Students & working with local universities
We provide and support placements for nursing students from the University of Hull giving them experience working in a specialist palliative care environment. We also provide placements for occupational therapy students from the University of Lincoln.
Dr Lucy Adcock, Consultant in Palliative Medicine, facilitates the provision of training to medical professionals from the Hull and York Medical School. The hospice provides placements for medical students and GP trainees.
The family and bereavement support team also offer voluntary counselling hours for students training to become counsellors who need to gain practical experience.
We encourage all of our students and trainees to develop key skills that will help support patients and families who are affected by a palliative illness, giving compassionate, dignified care in any environment they may work in the future.
