Lindsey Lodge Hospice Staff Nurse Elaine Bradley, who features in the Hospice’s new children’s book, is pictured with Lindsey Bear at the Hospice.
We're set to launch our first children’s book at its Teddy Bear’s Picnic on Wednesday 21 August.

The book, which has been written and illustrated by staff at Lindsey Lodge Hospice, and even features Inpatient Nurse Elaine Bradley, tells the story of mascot Lindsey Bear and how he came to the Hospice. It will be revealed to children in a story time feature at the Teddy Bear’s Picnic, which will be held in the Lindsey Lodge’s Burringham Road gardens between 11am and 2pm, before going on sale in and around the Hospice.

Lindsey Lodge Hospice Head of Fundraising Tom Moody said: “We’re really excited to be launching our book. When we take Lindsey Bear out and about, he gets lots of attention from our younger supporters, so I’m sure they will be interested to hear just how he came to be at Lindsey Lodge!”

He added: “We’re inviting children and families to join us and bring along their very special cuddly friend to enjoy our Teddy Bear’s Picnic.

“We’ve got music, games, a bouncy castle and face painting, along with a delicious picnic and refreshments, as well as few surprises – all in the safe surroundings of Lindsey Lodge Hospice.”

Tickets for the event cost £6 per child (which includes a picnic box) and £4 per adult (includes buffet food), and every penny raised at the event will go towards providing the Hospice’s patients with specialist palliative care.

Tom added: “We don’t just care for patients, we provide advice and support for their loved ones too, so families are at the heart of everything we do.

“We hope that people will come along and support us, and take the chance to pick up a copy of our new book!”
