We were delighted to welcome Phil James into the Hospice this morning with a gift of trees for planting in our gardens.

Phil was one of the lucky winners in a free tree giveaway made possible by a partnership between the Woodland Trust, Sainsbury’s and ITV, as part of the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy – which sees fifty thousand trees winging their way across the UK this week to form part of the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy (QCC), a network of global forest conservation initiatives to mark Her Majesty’s lifetime of service to the Commonwealth.

Phil has generously donated the five trees – two silver birch, two rowan, and a hazel – in memory of his late mother Jennifer James, who passed away at the Hospice in 2014.

We will now plant them in our beautiful gardens to bring pleasure to our patients, families and Hospice team, and look forward to enjoying the wildlife they will attract.
