A group of intrepid walkers are aiming to conquer a gruelling 24 mile challenge on Saturday 15 July for their chosen charity.

The 13-strong team who are representing North Lincolnshire Place, and led by NHS Place Director Alex Seale, are aiming to complete the iconic Yorkshire Three Peaks in under 12 hours to raise funds for Lindsey Lodge Hospice and Healthcare.

Alex Seale said: “Lindsey Lodge plays such an important role in supporting end of life care within North Lincolnshire and we have always had a strong relationship with the team there, so we are delighted to be walking to raise funds for them.”

The peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside are known collectively as the Yorkshire Three Peaks. As well as being 24 miles long the challenge involves 5,000 ft of vertical ascent.

Alex added: “What started as a conversation over coffee with a colleague has grown into this fantastic group charity challenge, and it’s great that so many people have got on board – we’ve already raised over £500 in sponsorship towards our £2,000 target.

“Most of us are novices to long distance walking, so there’s lots of training going on in preparation for the big day – we just hope the weather is kind, and the climbing and ascent are not too gruelling on our knees!”

Lindsey Lodge Chief Executive Karen Griffiths said: “We are so grateful to everyone from North Lincolnshire Place for choosing to support Lindsey Lodge in this way.

“The team there support us so much already – so giving up their own time to raise funds for us is very much appreciated and we wish them lots of luck!”
