In Memory of a Lost Loved One
Join us for our annual Light Up a Life service on Thursday, 4th December at 7 pm.
We’ll be coming together at John Leggott College, West Common Lane, Scunthorpe, DN17 1DS, for a truly special evening of carols, readings, and music. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the lives of loved ones, reflect on shared memories, and find comfort together.
This year, we’re delighted to feature performances by the Hospice Harmonies Choir, the Market Rasen Brass Band, and our wonderful piper.
Refreshments will be available from 6:15 pm.
Everyone is warmly welcome to attend, regardless of whether your loved one received care from the Hospice. You are invited to donate and dedicate a light in their memory, which will shine brightly in our Memorial Garden throughout the Christmas season.
As a special way to remember them, you will receive two tree decorations. You can write a personal message on one and hang it on our memorial tree during the service, before it is moved to the Hospice Memorial Garden. The second decoration is for you to keep and cherish at home.
Can’t make it to our event?
If you’re unable to join us in person, you can still be a part of the service from the comfort of your own home. We’ll be streaming the event live on our YouTube channel, so you can participate wherever you are. As we light the Hospice tree, we’ll invite you to switch on your own Christmas lights at home, creating a shared moment of remembrance.
Your loved one’s name will be included in our Book of Dedication. You can view this special book by our beautiful Christmas tree in the Hospice Summer House from Monday, 8th December.

Working as a Hospice Nurse at Lindsey Lodge Hospice, Emma Bushby
It’s been two years since I became a registered nurse at Lindsey Lodge Hospice, a place where I had always aspired to work. To be honest, I had expected it to be a sad and difficult environment, but I was so wrong. I was amazed to find that the halls were filled with laughter and a deep sense of warmth. It didn’t take me long to realise how much a simple smile and a warm happy atmosphere could mean to our patients and their families. For me, being here to offer comfort and care during such an important time feels like a true privilege.
In my role, I work with a dedicated team who go above and beyond for everyone in our care. We all understand that what families truly need is not sympathy, but trust and empathy. Our team at Lindsey Lodge Hospice strives to be a source of strength, making sure each patient and their family feels supported and cared for, we put them first, which is important. We treat every single person with the utmost dignity and respect, always.
