Lindsey Lodge Expands Wellbeing Services Through Dynamic Partnership

Lindsey Lodge is thrilled to announce a innovative partnership with Skills Centre Plus, bringing a range of new services to enhance the patient experience at our Wellbeing Centre. Students from Skills Centre Plus, under the guidance of experienced tutors, visit the Centre every Monday and Wednesday, actively engaging with patients through a variety of stimulating activities, fostering genuine connections by spending time with our patients.

The students studying beauty therapy have been providing patients with a variety of pampering treatments, including manicures, makeovers, and hairdressing. The positive impact has been undeniable, with patients visibly energized by the experience. These treatments not only boost overall wellbeing but also empower patients, fostering a renewed sense of confidence.

This partnership is a testament to Lindsey Lodge’s commitment to providing holistic care that extends beyond medical needs. By incorporating these engaging activities alongside our existing complementary therapy offering, we’re enriching the lives of our patients and creating a truly positive environment for their healing journey.

Karen Andrew tells us more about how the partnership is supporting Lindsey Lodge.

“I have seen the impact the Skills Centre plus has on both our patients and the students. Patients have said they look forward to the students coming and doing activities with them. I have seen a difference in several of the students since they started coming. Some were very withdrawn and quiet but are now actively starting conversations with patients.

The smiles on patients faces when they see the students arrive is lovely to see, we are seeing real benefits for both the students and the patients.

I am looking forward to strengthening our partnership working and watching the students grow in confidence and social skills but also the positive impact it has on our patients.”

The partnership has extended beyond beauty therapy, with a learner who is supporting our polytunnel project. This student has been helping our team grow fresh vegetables and salad to serve in our meet-and-eat restaurant.

Last week the Lindsey Lodge team were honoured to be invited to the Skills Centre’s annual awards ceremony to present their students with some of their end-of-year certificates. This opportunity gave our team the chance to officially thank the team for the impact they have had at Lindsey Lodge.

Jay from the Skills Centre had this to say about the partnership,

“Skills Centre Plus delivers a bespoke pathway for our learners. This is not limited to their education, but rather a pathway which encompasses social skills, pastoral care, careers advice and guidance. The focus of what we do is to support the learners to gain employment, access further education/apprenticeships and give them the best possible platform to succeed.

Working in partnership with Lindsey Lodge has impacted our learners in many ways. All of our learners have personal targets and for some, this is to be able to improve their social skills, interact within a workplace environment or simply to be able to talk with someone. Although these may sound easy tasks for many, our learners find these very difficult.

Lindsey Lodge has provided a safe space and platform for the learners to build on their own targets, but to also help others by delivering activity sessions. It’s safe to say that everyone has gained something from this process.”

The Learners had this to say,

“Going to Lindsey Lodge has helped me have a more positive outlook on volunteer work. The attendees are very grateful and really appreciate doing the activities that we plan for them. I was very nervous when I first started as I wasn’t sure how ill the patients would be, but it didn’t take me long to settle, once I realised how lovely the attendees were and what a happy place Lindsey Lodge was.”

Jess – Skills Centre Learner

“When we go to Lindsey Lodge, I always enjoy helping the attendees and it makes me happy knowing that we all made a difference to their day. Doing different activities with the attendees is always fun as they all do things differently and we all end up having a laugh together. To see the patients smiling always inspires me to keep volunteering to help others who appreciate it.”
