Lindsey Lodge Hospice Announces Grand Opening of Ashby Superstore

Lindsey Lodge Hospice is thrilled to announce the upcoming grand opening of its first-ever superstore in Ashby. This exciting new venture will bring a unique shopping experience to the heart of Ashby, while also providing crucial support for the hospice’s vital services.

The new superstore, located near Taylors Butchers in the former carpet shop, pays heartfelt homage to Ashby’s rich market trading history. Its design embraces a market theme, featuring bespoke fixtures and fittings crafted from sustainable, upcycled materials such as pallets, crates, scaffolding poles, potato crates, and even an old sweet cart. The shop will boast an exposed brick and rustic feel, promising a one-of-a-kind shopping atmosphere. Local business Nelipak generously contributed pallets to this innovative project.

“Our hospice shops are an extension of the hospice, becoming a hub of information to allow the local community to access information about services and events, as well as help financially support our work,” said Amy Lowsley, Head of Retail for Lindsey Lodge.

“We feel every shop needs to connect to its local community, so giving a nod to its rich heritage was really important to us.”

The location itself holds significance, being opposite the site where Ashby market traded for over 60 years.

This much larger store will serve as a one-stop shop for a wide array of goods, including clothing for all genders and ages, giftware, toys, and homeware, featuring a mix of new and donated items. The only item this new superstore will not sell are books, because our dedicated Lindsey Lodge Hospice bookshop further up the high street will remain open as the hub for all book lovers in Ashby.

The Ashby community has consistently shown incredible support for Lindsey Lodge Hospice, sustaining two high street stores for many years.

“It makes perfect sense for our first superstore to be located here” added Lowsley.

To accommodate the increased size and potential of the new superstore, Lindsey Lodge is launching its ‘Give 100’ campaign, aiming to secure an additional 100 volunteer hours each week. These dedicated volunteers will work alongside our existing fantastic volunteers and staff to help the shop thrive and raise much-needed funds for the hospice. Anyone interested in regularly sparing hours to volunteer at the new store is encouraged to visit the current Ashby shop to fill out an expression of interest form, or email LLH.volunteering1@nhs.net.

The existing Lindsey Lodge shop in Ashby will close on 7th July to facilitate the relocation. The hospice also hopes to move its successful clearance shop format to a new location in Scunthorpe town centre later this year.

The new Ashby superstore is estimated to open on July 10th. For updates and more information, follow Lindsey Lodge Hospice Ashby on Facebook: @lindseylodgeashby.
