A North Lincolnshire hospice is asking local people to support its emergency appeal to help it survive the drastic financial impact of the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

Lindsey Lodge Hospice has launched an emergency appeal following the cancellation and postponement of its fundraising activities, anticipating a loss of income in excess of £500,000.

Lindsey Lodge Hospice Director of Nursing and Patient Services and Deputy Chief Executive Maureen Georgiou said: “We’re in unprecedented times due to the Covid-19 pandemic and are doing everything possible to keep our Inpatient Unit fully operational.

“We’re working around the clock to continue to deliver our specialist palliative care and our clinical staff have gone above and beyond, putting their workplace and our patients first at such a difficult time.”

She added: “One of our incredible Registered Nurses has even moved into one of our family rooms for two weeks, after a family member went into self-isolation, so that she can continue delivering care to patients when they need it most.”

The outbreak of Covid-19 has meant that the 28-year old Hospice has lost the ability to generate income from its traditional fundraising activities, which will severely impact on its already limited financial resources.

Maureen added: “The reduction in our income could have a devastating impact on our ability to continue caring for thousands of local patients and families who rely on our services annually.

“We want to be able to care for patients now and in the future, so we’ve launched an Emergency Appeal and are asking local people and supporters past and present to give us their support.

“Any donation, however large or small will help us to mitigate the financial impact of Covid-19, and enable us to continue to provide specialist palliative care to patients and their families when they need it most.”
