Burton supporters bow out gracefully after raising £200,000 for charity
A group of village volunteer fundraisers who have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for their local Hospice, are bowing out gracefully after 21 years.
The Lindsey Lodge Burton Supporter Group wore yellow in support of Hospice Action Week at their final farewell tea, where it was revealed that in over two decades of voluntary fundraising, they have raised a staggering £200,000 for the local hospice and healthcare provider.
Over the years the Group have travelled across the UK and Europe on fundraising trips, hosted numerous coffee mornings, bingo, afternoon teas and celebrated royal events such as the Jubilee, all in aid of Lindsey Lodge. But, due to the Covid-19 pandemic community fundraising has become more and more difficult, and as a result, the Burton Supporter Group have decided to call it a day.
Lindsey Lodge Chief Executive Karen Griffiths said: “We’re incredibly grateful to the Burton Supporter Group for their fantastic support over so many years.
She added: “On behalf of everyone at Lindsey Lodge, I’d like to say a huge thank you to each and every member for their hard work and dedication, and for helping to raise a truly astonishing amount of money.”
