A family took their fundraising to new heights as they reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world, to raise funds for their local hospice.
Local GP Dr Hardik Gandhi (48) took on the epic seven-day challenge with members of his family, raising over £1,123 for Lindsey Lodge Hospice and Healthcare.
Together with his wife Preeti (48), Hardik was joined by his children Kamya (19) and Yash (15), brother in law Manish Arora (45) and nieces Kriti (13) and Livya (10).
Hardik said: “As a GP I’ve always been involved and aware of the great job that the team at Lindsey Lodge do, and the support they provide local people.
He added: “This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for my family and me to experience together, as well as showing Lindsey Lodge our support.
“We were well prepared for the trek as we’d done some training in the months leading up to it, but it certainly was challenging with the altitude along the way, we suffered with a few headaches!
“It really was a fantastic experience and we made some incredible memories together as a family. We’d like to thank everyone for their support and sponsorship.”
Lindsey Lodge Fundraising Assistant Courtney Deans said: “Well done to Hardik and the whole family, what a truly amazing experience and achievement!
“Every penny they have raised will go towards our care and make a difference to local patients and their families when they need it most. Thank you on behalf of everyone at Lindsey Lodge.”
