Local fundraisers have demonstrated their commitment to their local hospice by completing a month-long Jog on January fitness challenge, raising over £11,000 to date, with money still coming in.

Lindsey Lodge launched ‘Jog on January’ in a bid to motivate people to walk, jog or run their way to 5, 10 or 15k over 31 days, while raising vital funds for Burringham Road based charity.

Participants shared their progress daily with one another on a dedicated Facebook group, where messages of encouragement and support were exchanged.

In total 142 people took part in the Jog on January challenge, many of them putting on their running shoes to take part in the Scunthorpe Park Run grand finale on Saturday 28 January.

Lindsey Lodge Fundraiser Courtney Deans said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our Jog on January participants for their incredible support and dedication during a very cold and chilly start to the year!

“It was fantastic to see so many of them running together at Park Run and we were overwhelmed by the support from local people and organisations, from our sponsors, Energie Fitness, to Scunthorpe Park Run and Scunthorpe United Football Club – the challenge truly created a real sense of community.

“Every penny raised will go towards providing the best possible care for North Lincolnshire patients and their families.”

She added: “We’d still love to hear from our Jog on January supporters to hear how their fundraising has gone, to ensure they receive their Jog on January medals, so please email me at courtney.deans@nhs.net to share your stories.”
