Local people are being invited to be creative with the number 28 and take on a challenge to mark a local Hospice’s 28 year anniversary.

Lindsey Lodge Hospice is hoping people will help them mark the occasion by creating their own unique challenges, to raise vital funds for the North Lincolnshire based charity.

Lindsey Lodge Hospice Senior Manager – Business Development, Tom Moody said: “The local community are at the heart of the Hospice, without their support over the past 28 years, we wouldn’t be here today.

“This year has been incredibly tough for everyone as a result of Covid-19, particularly the Hospice, but we’re still here today, because of that same incredible support we continue to receive.

“Challenge 28 is a fun way for anyone to get involved and support the Hospice, you could try reading 28 books, running for 28 minutes, or washing the pots 28 times!

“You can be as creative as you like. Simply set up a fundraising page and you’re ready to go.”

Ready and raring to go with their Challenge 28, are Queen Elizabeth High School students George Baynham and Jack Raddish (both aged 14), who are preparing to each bike 28km together in just one day.

George Baynham said: “This week is National School Sports Week, and although we’re not physically at school at the moment, our school is planning a number of activities at home.

“The whole school community is taking part in a distance challenge all week, so we thought we’d do this and raise money for Lindsey Lodge as we are both volunteering for the charity for our Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.”

Lindsey Lodge Hospice has been providing high quality, specialist palliative care to local people and families living with life limiting illnesses for 28 years. It relies on fundraising and donations to raise the £3.5 million it needs each year to continue to deliver its care in North Lincolnshire.

Challenge 28 will officially begin on 1 July and run throughout the summer as the Hospice celebrates its 28th year.

We'll be releasing a video this week to explain more about how you can get involved with Challenge 28!
