A quilt and craft show held in an Ashby church has giving a local hospice a £2,218 boost for Christmas.

The event, which is now in its fourth year, was held at Old Brumby United Church, by the 16 members of local quilting group the Iron Maidens in aid of Lindsey Lodge Hospice, and is the culmination of two years’ hard work creating beautiful handmade quilts and embroidered items including Christmas decorations, advent calendars, cushions and a whole host of crafted ornaments.

Iron Maiden member and event organiser Lesley Dale said: “We were delighted to raise such a large sum of money for such a worthy local charity!

“We had a fabulous day raising funds for Lindsey Lodge, and are extremely grateful to everyone who came along to support us.”

She added: “We also donated £250 to Old Brumby United Church to say thank you for their hospitality and for allowing us to meet there twice a month with our sewing machines.”

Lindsey Lodge Hospice Fundraiser Anne Millett said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to the Iron Maidens for their continued support of the Hospice.

“They put so much hard work, time and dedication into making all of their beautiful items for the show, and it’s lovely to see so many people visiting the event to appreciate the effort they have made.”
