A yearlong fundraising campaign by a big-hearted group of Scunthorpe United supporters has raised thousands for Lindsey Lodge.
Members of Winterton Iron visited Lindsey Lodge Hospice and Healthcare to handover a cheque for £4,190, after holding a variety of activities to raise the much-needed funds.
Winterton Iron Scunthorpe Supporters Group Treasurer Doug Parker said: “We try and support a different local charity every year, but this is the second time that Lindsey Lodge has been chosen.
“It’s a charity that has supported some of our own members over the years, and it touches the lives of so many local people, so we feel it’s a very worthwhile cause.”
He added: “The money was raised at our annual ‘Bit of a Do’ in November, which featured the Rumble Band, as well as from our written quiz paper, along with some generous donations.
“We’ve also sold some collectables online and received £455 as a donation from Steve Stubbins, who has given a series of local history talks to various organisations around and about, on behalf of Winterton Iron – so I’d like to say thank you to everyone who has helped us raise such a significant amount of money.”
Lindsey Lodge Fundraiser Courtney Deans said: “It’s lovely to see the local community coming together to support all of our patients and families.
“Thank you to the Winterton Iron and all of their supporters for raising such a large amount of money for Lindsey Lodge!”
